Mr Burns, 40s, from Oxley Park, suffered grave injuries.

He was airlifted to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambs for urgent medical attention.

Mr Burns' wife Sam later claimed he was "lucky to be alive".

Updating friends on his health following the crash, she told loved ones how he had "a long road of recovery ahead of him".

"We are hoping the power of Facebook will help us locate the witnesses that remained at the scene and the family that were involved in the head on collision because of some guy that couldn't control his road rage."

Mr Mistry's rampage also caused serious harm to the front passenger of the car he plowed into head-on.

Emergency services rushed the passenger to Milton Keynes University Hospital for treatment.

Mr Mistry, from Groundsel Close, was sentenced to a total of four years and ten months behind bars at Aylesbury Crown Court.

He pleaded guilty to two charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving - with an additional charge for causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He was also slapped with a driving ban of four years and ten months.

The motorist will have to pass an extensive driving test before he's granted a driving license again.

Investigating officer PC Phil McGlue of the Roads Policing Unit, said: "This case is an extreme example of road rage.

"Mistry was not in any immediate danger and chose to respond in a manner that was so violent and so disproportionate that he turned road disagreement into a very serious assault.

"Drivers who behave in such a manner will be rigorously investigated and held to account for their actions and Mistry will now serve a prison sentence as a result of those decisions."
