Tunisia beach massacre hero Matt James marries Saera Wilson, the woman he took three bullets for after diving between her and ISIS maniac
Matt James yesterday married fiancee Saera Wilson, who he jumped in front of to protect during 2015 Sousse massacre
A HUMAN shield hero of the Tunisia terror attack limped down the aisle to marry the fiancée he saved yesterday.
Dad-of-two Matt James, 31, nearly died after being shot three times as he flung himself between fiancée, Saera Wilson and ISIS killer Seifeddine Rezgui.
Despite a string of operations since the attack, which claimed the lives of 30 Brits on the beach at Sousse in June 2015, he still has no feeling in his left leg.
And the brave groom hid a secret sadness yesterday — for the NHS have refused him a life-changing op.
A friend of the couple, who live in Pontypridd, Wales, with children Tegan, seven, and Kaden, two, said last night: “It is disgusting.
“Matt is desperate for this surgery because he can feel nothing in his leg due to nerve damage. But he’s been told by the NHS they won’t perform the op. It has blighted his special time.”
Gas contractor Matt and accountant Saera, 27, married at the swish New House Country Hotel in Cardiff, South Wales.
A London inquest into the death of the 30 Brits started this week amid claims terror warnings were ignored and hotel security was lax.
Matt’s heart stopped on the operating table soon after he was shot but he was saved by surgeons.
Proud partner Saera said of his sacrifice: “It was the bravest thing I've ever known. I owe him my life.”
Matt declined to comment on his NHS snub yesterday as he and Saera tied the knot in front of 100 guests.
The Sun’s Lorraine Kelly got the hotel to lay on the reception after the couple appeared on her show.
Lorraine, who’ll interview them on ITV on Monday, said: “It’s disgraceful the NHS won’t support Matt. They must do the right thing.”
