But, the banner picture of the account, launched as Trump was sworn in today, shows crowds waving American flags at Obama's inauguration in 2009.

It features crowds massed in Washington Mall looking towards the Capitol Building in Washington DC.

President Trump has yet to tweet from the account, which features the picture taken by photographer Carter Dayne.

Trump vowed to hand “power back to the people” and “eradicate Islamic terror from the face of the earth” after he was sworn in as President, today.

He used his inaugural address to blast the establishment, saying the forgotten men and women of America will “be forgotten no longer”.

Speaking on the steps of Capitol Hill in front of a crowd of 900,000, the Republican promised to rebuild the country by putting “only America first”.

He said: “Today will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again.

"The time for talk is over, now begins the hour of action. The forgotten men and women will be forgotten no longer.”

There was unprecedented security on the streets of Washington for the event with officers banning drones flying within 30 miles of Trump over bomb fears.

As the divisive Republican candidate prepared to take office, protests broke out between anti-Trump protestors and the police.
