THE HEARTBROKEN family of a missing dad-of-four have paid tribute after his body was found in a field.
Marcus Shaw, 43, was last seen on Saturday after going to have his hair shaved off before his car was found abandoned in a country lane with his phone inside.
Police issued an urgent appeal and extensive enquiries were carried out but tragically his body was discovered on Wednesday in Lymm, Cheshire.
His family, who are being supported by specially trained officers, issued a statement paying tribute to the dad-of-four, from Warrington.
It said: “We are devastated with the loss of Marcus.
"He was the central part to our family and a dearly loved son, brother, father, grandfather, partner, uncle and friend to many, many people. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
"As a family we would like to pass on our gratitude to all those who assisted in the search for Marcus since his disappearance on Saturday, in particular Cheshire Police and the search and rescue team volunteers."
Marcus left his home in Warrington at around 2pm on Saturday to go to the hairdressers ahead of a planned evening with his daughters.
He did not turn up but was later spotted in High Legh Road in Broomedge, near Lymm, around 4.30pm. His car and phone were found behind the Jolly Thresher pub in the village.
The dad-of-four had recently passed his HGV driver's test and had a job interview lined up for earlier this week.
Marcus's family including his current partner Joanne Lyne had appealed on Facebook for help finding him.
Joane posted a photograph of the pair together and wrote: "Love this man the mostest he's my best mate my world... if anyone has seen him please let me or his family know he is safe."
She later shared another message saying: "My gorgeous man my best friend Marcus Shaw car found in Lymm please please if anyone has seen him."
His daughter Lucy Bedford, 27, wrote: “Asking for everybody to keep an eye out for my dad. He’s been missing over 24 hours and is not like him.”
Cheshire Police released a CCTV image Marcus showing his new bald hairdo and the blue top he was wearing when he vanished.
A helicopter, sniffer dogs and frogmen were drafted in to help the search but his body was found five days later.
Cheshire police said formal identification took place on Thursday afternoon and added that there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
A force spokesman said a file was being prepared for the coroner.
