Vile dad-of-four’s toddler son could have died in car in -5C temperatures while he played poker in a bar

A VILE dad-of-four is behind bars after leaving his toddler son in a freezing car while he went gambling.

The electrician left his little lad, 3, in the back of his motor in -5C temperatures as he played on electronic poker machines in a nearby bar in Ostia, Italy.

A passerby spotted the tot jumping up and down on the back seat for warmth at 3am on January 9th.

A Roman court has now sentenced the neglectful dad to three years in prison for the dangerous act.

Italy had been suffering unseasonably chilly temperatures during that week as the country was battered by high winds and snow, the reported.

To compound the risk to the child the car allegedly also had a smashed window that had been covered over with fabric allowing the icy wind into the motor.

Police eventually found the man with the help of his abandoned son playing a poker video game in a pub.

In court the dad claimed he had only left his son for 15 minutes while he went to meet a pal in a local bar.

The judge rejected his request to serve out his sentence under house arrest and the boy is now living with his mother.

His dad was sentenced to three years and four months in prison.
