A VILE dad-of-four is behind bars after leaving his toddler son in a freezing car while he went gambling.
The electrician left his little lad, 3, in the back of his motor in -5C temperatures as he played on electronic poker machines in a nearby bar in Ostia, Italy.
A passerby spotted the tot jumping up and down on the back seat for warmth at 3am on January 9th.
A Roman court has now sentenced the neglectful dad to three years in prison for the dangerous act.
Italy had been suffering unseasonably chilly temperatures during that week as the country was battered by high winds and snow, the reported.
To compound the risk to the child the car allegedly also had a smashed window that had been covered over with fabric allowing the icy wind into the motor.
