Uber driver ‘raped woman, 22, after driving her home after drunken night out’

Gabriel Vasquez, 40, who no longer works for the app, 'escorted her to her bed'

A WOMAN was allegedly raped by an 'Uber driver' who sexually assaulted her after dropping her off at her home.

She was picked up by the man after a drunken night out, who then helped her up to her room when he dropped her off.

Gabriel Vasquez was taken off the app as soon as the incident was reported

A police report which was filed in October last year when the incident happened, said Vasquez helped the woman inside her apartment because she was unable to walk.

It stated he "escorted her to her bed and began to undress her."

The victim told cops she told Vasquez "no" when he made his advances, but he carried on and allegedly raped her.

The woman told cops about what happened the next day.

A police report stated the woman was so drunk she passed out in the bathroom and had to be helped to her car by bar staff

he later admitted to having sex with the woman even though he knew she was drunk.

Kayla Whaling, a spokesperson for Uber said in a statement: "What's been described is greatly concerning and has no place anywhere.

"As soon as the rider reported this to us in October, we immediately removed this driver's access to the app."

The company does criminal background checks on its drivers, but Vasquez had a clean record before the incident.

He did not have a criminal record prior to last year's incident.
