Moth named after Donald Trump because it appears to have the same hairstyle as President-elect

A NEW species of moth has been named after Donald Trump because it appears to share the same vivid "yellowish-white" hair-do.

The insect was identified in the University of California's archives, where it had lain undiscovered for years.

Dr. Vazrick Nazari, an evolutionary biologist, spotted the specimen and realised it was from a species of twirler moths.

He decided to name the beastie Neopalpa donaldtrumpi due to its striking similiarity to The Donald.

"The discovery of this distinct micro-moth in the densely populated and otherwise zoologically well-studied southern California underscores the importance of conservation of the fragile habitats that still contain undescribed and threatened species, and highlights the paucity of interest in species-level taxonomy of smaller faunal elements in North America," he said.

"By naming this species after the 45th President of the United States, I hope to bring some public attention to, and interest in, the importance of alpha-taxonomy in better understanding the neglected micro-fauna component of the North American biodiversity."

A species of basslet was recently named after predecessor President Barack Obama.

It was spotted swimming in coral reefs in the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument in Northwestern Hawaii, a nature reserve which the outgoing President extended to make the largest protected marine area in the emtire world.
