Wetherspoons diner horrified to find a ‘WORM’ inside her half-eaten chicken wings – but is all as it seems?
The unknown item - which was orange and up to 10 inches long - was cooked into the batter of one of her chicken wings
A SHOCKED diner found an unknown object that looked like a WORM in her Wetherspoons pub meal after she’d already eaten most of her lunch.
Shya Henry squealed when she saw the item - which was orange and up to 10 inches long - cooked into the batter of one of her chicken wings.
Until then, the 20-year-old hairdresser had been enjoying her £7.99 chicken wings and fries at her local Wetherspoons in Mare Street, Hackney.
She had popped out for lunch on December 27 with her salon receptionist boyfriend Rio Cooper, 26.
Miss Henry told The Sun: “I’d actually eaten half of my food when I noticed.

“I sort of screamed and called the waitress over and she just froze when she saw it.
“I don’t understand how the waitress managed to bring my food over without realising. I work in a hair salon and whenever I make a customer tea I always make sure to look at the cup to make sure there’s nothing in it.
“It was so disgusting, my boyfriend was going crazy.
“They did apologise and gave us the money back for our food.
“I called the customer service line a couple of times and left messages but they haven’t even bothered to get back to me.
“I’m very disappointed and disgusted about how I’ve been treated.
“I still feel sick when I think about it now.”
The popular pub chain later confirmed that they had probed the incident, and said that they believed the item was a trussing band.
A Wetherspoon spokesman said: “We have investigated the customer’s claim. We do not believe that the object in question is a worm as she has stated.
“We believe it to be a trussing band which has somehow found its way into the meal.
“This in itself is a serious issue and we apologise to the customer for this.
“Wetherspoon serves millions of meals across its pubs each year and the company takes the utmost care in the preparation of the meals that it serves to its customers.
“Incidents like this are very rare, however, we acknowledge that it shouldn’t have happened.”
