We told last April how her abusive husband Kashif Anwar was jailed for life for pushing his wife, 31, and unborn child to their death.

In her first interview since her daughter's killer was jailed, Yasin Javed revealed jealous Anwar resented solicitor Fawziyah for being an educated and independent woman.

Anwar, 29, of Leeds, was found guilty of the murder and ordered to serve at least 20 years behind bars.

Her mother has now told how Anwar is still controlling her even in death as he is refusing to return Fawziyah's possessions to her family.

She told the BBC Newsnight: "'I do believe he still has some control still from prison. The fact is I still don't have all of Fawzyiah's possessions back.

"The possessions that I have got back, I have had to fight tooth and nail to get those.

"And his parents are honouring that control by not giving all her possessions back to us."

And the father of a man who killed his pregnant wife moaned of not getting back the engagement ring he bought.

His father Mohammed claimed he had paid £6,300 for a diamond ring when the couple got engaged.

Talking about her "articulate", "strong minded" and "educated" daughter, heartbroken Yasin also shared a recording made by Fawziyah before she died, where Anwar tells her to stop behaving like a "British woman".

Fawziyah married the optical assistant in an Islamic ceremony on December 25, 2020.

The couple, from Leeds, were on a mini break for their honeymoon to the Scots city when beast Anwar attacked her at the top of the 251m height tourist hot spot.

The trial of the employment lawyer’s husband heard that, as she lay critically injured at the foot of the cliff, she told a passer-by: “Don’t let my husband near me, he pushed me.”

Yasin Javed claims Anwar's family have spread lies claiming their son was innocent.

She continued: "They are spreading rumours that he is innocent, that Fawziyah slipped, that it is nothing to do with their son.

"They've just added to my pain."

The High Court heard how a string of domestic abuse incidents led up to the death of the 31-year-old.

Only three months after their nuptials that Anwar knocked out Fawziyah unconscious in a cemetery, the court was told during the trial into her murder.

He also hit Fawziyah in the head and held a pillow over her face during the same time period.

Anwar also removed £12,000 out of his pregnant wife's bank account when she was asleep.

Fawziyah worked as a solicitor after graduating from The University of Sheffield and spent much of her free time supporting a wide array of charities, including the InTouch Foundation, Mosaic, Penny Appeal and Citizens Advice Bureau.

In the months before the horror during a city break in the capital, she had contacted police to report Anwar’s abuse and controlling behaviour at their home in Leeds, West Yorks.

Her second police report was made just days before Anwar killed her on their weekend getaway in Edinburgh.

Shattered Yasmin shared she had not only lost her beloved daughter, but her unborn grandson.

"Fawziyah's last words "Am I going to die? Is my baby going to die?", those words go round and round in my head every single day," Yasmin said last night.

"Alongside the grief and pain, I can't get those words out of my mind."

She added: "Two lives have been lost. It's double murder.'"

We told previously how the harrowing details leading up to Fawziyah's death are set to be told in a two-part series for Channel 4 starting on Sunday.

Statement read on behalf of the Javed family outside court as killer of Fawziyah Javed sentenced

The Channel 4 series, directed by BAFTA award winning film maker Anna Hall, will follow the murder trial and Fawziyah’s family as they go through the process of hearing evidence – including extraordinary documenting of abuse by Fawziyah herself – and the aftermath of her death.

Channel 4’s head of documentaries Alisa Pomeroy said: “To tell Fawziyah’s story in this way, with her family bravely sharing what is an unimaginably painful time for them, is both a great privilege and a great responsibility.

"No woman should have to suffer an abusive relationship.

“Shining a light on this heartbreaking case is important for many reasons, and I hope that other women suffering in a similar way might find strength in seeing this film to make a lifesaving change in their own life.

“The access gained by Anna and the team at Candour to make this series is unique and I have no doubt they will honour Fawziyah’s memory, showing how her killer was brought to justice.”

Anna Hall added: “It’s been such a privilege to see the process of justice played out minute by minute at Edinburgh High Court and it’s been an utter privilege to work with Fawziyah’s large and loving family who are destroyed by what has happened to her.

“I find myself making another film about a woman who was on the verge of leaving an abusive relationship – the most dangerous time for any woman – and I want to weep.

"How many more women will be killed at the hands of their abusive partners? "

"But I know we will all learn so many vitally important things which helped to convict her abuser.”
