Six in 10 Brits said they watch clips of chortling babies and toddlers to cheer them up.

And it took just 12 seconds of watching this adorable compilation before the average viewer started smiling.

One hundred per cent of people polled said little ones’ laughter gave them a feelgood lift, compared to 72 per cent who were happy when told, "I love you" and 55 per cent who cited sunshine.

Siobhan Freegard, founder of , who conducted the research, said: "They say laughter is the best medicine but it's even better when it's from a child.

“A baby's laugh is the cheeriest sound on earth and guaranteed to blast away the Blue Monday blues.

“We want to encourage adults to laugh like a child and realise the simple things in life really can make you happiest."

Just 35 per cent of people said seeing friends always cheered them up, while one in eight said having a 'good hair day' cheered them up.
