Family of George Michael ‘fear it could be weeks before cops release his body’ as police probe into his death continues

THE grieving family of pop icon George Michael are reportedly desperate to lay him to rest - but fear it will be weeks before his body is released.

With officers stepping up their investigations into Michael's death, his family are now said to be worried they will not be able to hold a Greek Orthodox service for the 53-year-old star until February.

that an inquest is "all but certain" with his initial autopsy proving to be "inconclusive".

A source said: "George’s family want to lay him to rest and give him some peace but it could be weeks before his body is released by police.

"There is still a chance some kind of charges could be brought over his death and police won’t release the body until those lines of enquiry have been concluded."
