: “The whole front of the shop has been blown off because of the fire.
"It’s a three-storey building and the front is just lying on the pavement.
“There was black smoke everywhere and fire engines."
Fire crews in four fire engines were deployed along with a technical rescue unit.
According to the MEN, it is reported the blaze started as a chip pan fire.
A spokesperson for Manchester Fire Service said: "Firefighters using hose reels and wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze.
"One man has been treated for burns by North West Ambulance Service.
"At the moment, we are not aware of any other casualties.
"Rochdale Road in Harpurhey is currently closed and traffic is being diverted.
"People are being asked to avoid the area if at all possible."
The fire service said that all gas has been isolated around the building.
