A JIHADI fighter’s uncle was jailed yesterday for using aid convoys to Syria to smuggle £4,500 to his nephew for a sniper rifle.

Ex-probation officer Syed Hoque, 37, sent cash to Mohammed Choudhury, 26, who was with an al-Qaeda-linked group.

Syrian aid worker Alan Henning was on board one of the convoys used by Hoque and his associates to send the money.

Hoque’s “fixer”, gas engineer Mashoud Miah, 28, travelled with aid convoys in 2012 and 2013.

Speaking to Hoque and Miah Judge John Bevan said: "Both of you sought to abuse the legitimate aid convoys which depend on integrity if they are to function properly."
