Hackers toy with Trump’s new cyber attack chief Rudy Giuliani by crashing his own ‘embarrassingly outdated’ website

The former New York Mayor is credited with cleaning up the streets of that city and has said the US is "so far behind" when it comes to cyber security

DONALD Trump's new chief of cyber security's own website is extremely vulnerable to hackers, tech boffins have claimed.

Rudy Giuliani was chosen by the President-elect yesterday as a cyber guru based on his 16 years experience in the field as a private contractor.

The former New York Mayor is credited with cleaning up the streets of that city and has said the US is "so far behind" when it comes to cyber security.

But online experts have been quick to point out that the 72-year-old had apparently failed to adequately protect his own company website.

His site giulianisecurity.com is apparently run on an out dated version of Joomla! a free content management system (CMS).

Flaws in this system were pointed out on Twitter who outlined more than a dozen vulnerabilities.

User Jim Troutman posted: "So, the overall security of the giuliansecurity.com website is awful. A default cloned ssh key!? Seen teenagers build more secure servers."

Michael Fienen, a CMS developer, mocked Giuliani by listing about 10 problems he could see with the website.

He wrote: "To recap on Rudy Giuliani leading the nation's cybersecurity efforts, here are the Cliff Notes on Giuliani Security.

£Oh yeah, I totally trust this guy to put together a top notch teach to protect us from hackers."

"Giuliansecurity.com is currently down. Unclear if Trumps cybersecurity pick killed it out of shame or sheer weight of twitter laughing," The Jester added.

The Republican's website also received an F security rating in a testing report.

It was announced yesterday that Trump plans to meet with corporate executives who have faced cyber security challenges.

Giuliani, a former Trump campaign adviser who runs a cyber security consulting business, will facilitate the meetings.

Trumps transition team said he would be looking "to obtain experiential and anecdotal information from each executive."

The transition team said: "Cyber intrusion is the fastest growing crime in the United States and much of the world.

"Its impact is felt from the individual citizen whose identity is stolen to the large private and government entities that have seen their confidential information seriously compromised. It is also a major threat to our national security.

"As the use of modern communications and technology has moved forward at unparalleled speed the necessary defences have lagged behind.

"The President-elect recognises that this needs immediate attention and input from private sector leaders to help the government plan to make us more secure.

"Mr. Giuliani was asked to initiate this process because of his long and very successful government career in law enforcement and his now sixteen years of work providing security solutions in the private sector."
