THE nation's dream gameshow teammate has been revealed as a survey shows 24 per cent of Brits watch trivia TV daily.

According to the poll, Brits have picked Stephen Fry as their top TV personality to play on screen.

The beloved TV personality secured 32 per cent of the votes, beating House of Games host Richard Osman (25 per cent) and TV legend Carol Vorderman (23 per cent).

While current Countdown star Rachel Riley was left behind her predecessor, being picked by 17 per cent of the 2,000 adults polled.

It also emerged The Chase is the game show Brits would most like to participate in (52 per cent), followed by Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (26 per cent) and Pointless (20 per cent).

Completing their perfect game show experience, the charismatic Bradley Walsh was voted the most wanted presenter (50 per cent).

While Richard Osman (20 per cent), Alexander Armstrong (19 per cent), Stephen Mulhern (19 per cent), and Ben Shephard (17 per cent) were also popular.

The study, commissioned by to mark its Best of British game show offering, also found 24 per cent of adults watch game shows daily.

While another 42 per cent tune in a few times a week, and 21 per cent enjoy them on a weekly basis.

Shows like The Chase were considered the easiest game show to win by 44 per cent of those polled, closely followed by puzzle shows like the Crystal Maze.

While dating shows like Love Island were deemed the hardest to win, with only two per cent feeling confident in their chances.

Despite this, 39 per cent expressed confidence in their abilities to have game show success, with 10 per cent feeling any show would be a breeze.

Just 10 per cent admitted they would have no chance of winning were they to enter, according to the OnePoll.com figures.

It also emerged 82 per cent of those polled are drawn to game shows by the monetary prize, while seven per cent are enticed by vacations and travel packages.

But despite the popularity of game shows, 67 per cent admitted they are unlikely to go for a spot on a UK game show, although 16 per cent expressed interest in applying in the near future.

They aren’t all glory and cash though as 42 per cent wouldn’t like to be in the spotlight, while 15 per cent expressed concerns about dealing with time pressure.

And 14 per cent would worry about saying something stupid, with 11 per cent admitting being asked a tough question under pressure would be a struggle.

A spokesperson for Pluto TV said “Game shows hold a special place in British hearts, and we wanted to delve into the reasons behind this enduring affection.

"Through this survey, we aim to deepen our understanding of the unique elements that make game shows a staple in UK households and enhance our commitment to delivering an engaging viewing experience.”
