TUCKER Carlson has revealed he's interviewing Vladimir Putin as he's set to become the first Western journalist to interview the Russian president since the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out.
broke his silence on the rumored interview after being pictured in Moscow, Russia, over the weekend.
"There are risks to conducting an interview like this, obviously," Carlson said after confirming he'll be interviewing tonight.
The former anchor revealed he and his team had carefully considered the interview for several months before disclosing the reasoning behind their decision.
"First, because it's our job. We're in journalism. Our duty is to inform people. Two years into a war that's reshaping the entire world, most Americans are not informed," Carlson said in a video posted on his , formerly Twitter, account.
"They have no real idea what's happening in this region, here in Russia or 600 miles away in Ukraine. But they should know, they're paying for much of it in ways they might not fully yet perceive."
Carlson went on to call the war in Ukraine a human disaster that has left thousands dead, including a "generation of young Ukrainians."
"This war has utterly reshaped the global military and trade alliances, and the sanctions that followed have as well," he continued.
"And in total, they have upended the world economy. The post-World War 2 economic order, the system that guaranteed prosperity in the West for more than 80 years, is coming apart very fast, and along with it, the dominance of the US dollar.
"These are not small changes. They are history-altering developments. They will define the lives of our grandchildren. Most of the world understands this perfectly well. They can see it."

"Ask anyone in Asia or the Middle East what the future looks like. And yet, the populations of the English-speaking countries seem mostly unaware," he continued.
"They think that nothing has really changed. And they think that
because no one has told them the truth."
Carlson accused Western media outlets of lying to their readers and viewers, underscoring the repeated interviews they conducted with President and not Putin.
"Not a single Western journalist has bothered to interview the president of the other country involved in this conflict, Vladimir Putin," he said, blasting Western journalists.
He revealed he and his team have requested to do an interview with Zelensky, adding they're awaiting his approval.
"Most Americans have no idea why Putin invaded Ukraine or what his goals are now. They've never heard his voice. That's wrong," Carlson continued.
"Americans have a right to know all they can about a war they're implicated in, and we have the right to tell them about it because we are Americans, too. Freedom of speech is our birthright."
'YOU DECIDE FOR YOURSELF'
"We are not encouraging you to agree with what Putin may say in this interview, but we are urging you to watch it," Carlson closed off.
"You should know as much as you can. And then, like a free citizen and not a slave, you can decide for yourself."
Both the Kremlin and Carlson had remained silent on the impending interview after he was pictured entering a presidential building in Moscow with a film crew on Tuesday.
He was pictured early Tuesday exiting his hotel in downtown Moscow as his team loaded video equipment into a vehicle.
Putin’s powerful spokesman Dmitry Peskov, believed to have green-lighted an interview, said, "I am not commenting in any way on the movements of an American journalist."
Carlson has been one of the major media figures to repeatedly criticize the United States' support of Ukraine in segments from his days on Fox News.
His critiques of Zelensky and NATO's support of the war have since been adopted by leaders who argue the estimated $75 billion in US support could be spent elsewhere.
Pro-Kremlin commentator Sergei Markov said the United States "trembles" at the thought of the interview, claiming the American public will turn on Biden following Putin and Carlson's discussion.
“[US] trembles in anticipation of the interview of America's most popular enemy, Putin, with America's most popular journalist, Tucker Carlson," Markov said.
“It is believed that Putin can tell the Americans through Tucker Carlson that the Americans will throw Biden into the political dustbin of presidents and elect Trump as president.
“And Trump's Biden gang will be sent to prison for election fraud.
“So they tremble.”
