Two males aged 17 and 19 arrested on suspicion of assault

TWO teenagers were beaten with a hockey stick in a skate park leaving one with a fractured skull and broken arm.

The boys, aged 14 and 15 had been attacked by two males who fled the scene, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the skate park in Darwen, Lancashire at about 4.45pm on Sunday.

The 15-year-old victim suffered injuries to his mouth and teeth, while the 14-year-old boy was treated at Manchester Hospital for a fractured skull, head wound and broken arm.

Following enquiries two males aged 17 and 19 were arrested by police.

Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances around the assault and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Temp Det Sgt Mark Hutchingson, of Blackburn CID, said: “This was a particularly vicious attack which left two teenagers injured, one seriously.

“While we have made two arrests as part of our enquiries, we are continuing to appeal to witnesses to come forward and assist with our investigation.

“The attack took place at a busy skate park and we believe several people will have seen what happened.

“Anyone with information is urged to call police immediately.”

The two teenagers arrested on suspicion of assault have been bailed to March 10.
