Bus driver dies after being ‘attacked’ by teen at Scots bus station as suspect arrested
A BUS driver has died after he was allegedly attacked by a teenager at a Scots bus station.
Emergency crews raced to Elgin Bus Station on St Giles Road at around 10:40pm last night after the alarm was raised.
The 58-year-old man was rushed to Dr Gray's Hospital in the town but was pronounced dead a short time later.
Images from the scene show a number of police vehicles at the bus station as officers erected a tarpaulin covering one of the bays.
Cops confirmed a 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the alleged incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.40pm on Friday, 2 February, 2024, police were called to the St Giles Road area of Elgin following a report of the assault of a 58-year-old man.
"Emergency services attended, and the man was taken to Dr Grays Hospital in Elgin where he later died.
"A 15-year-old male youth has been arrested in connection with the alleged incident and enquiries are continuing."
Stagecoach Bluebird warned customers to seek alternative travel arrangements.
It said: "Due to a police incident at Elgin Bus Station, there is major disruption to our service.

"We have tried to run some services but would advise passengers to seek alternative transport."
A spokesperson for Stagecoach North Scotland added: "We are shocked and saddened by this news and our immediate thoughts are with the family and friends of our driver who has sadly passed away.
"Safety is our number one priority and incidents like this are extremely rare.
"We are doing everything we can to support our colleagues and our driver's family as well as assisting the police in their investigation."
