This secret trick will let you get more games for the Nintendo NES Classic Mini
The console only shipped with 30 titles, but here's how to get some more
The Nintendo NES Classic Mini might have been this Christmas' biggest must have, but that doesn't stop its game offering being a tad limited.
To celebrate the NES' 20th anniversary, Nintendo released a miniature version of the boxy console complete with 30 top notch games pre-installed.
However, despite the nostalgia, we reckon most NES Classic Mini owners will already be bored of the games on offer, especially as there are some absolute classics missing from the line-up.
Thanks to the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity and any kind of memory expansion options, there's no official way to get any more NES titles for your dinky console.
But, never fear, the handy hackers over at , hackers in Russia and Japan have already figured out a secret hack that can get your NES Mini upgraded with new games.
And what's more, there's not a screwdriver or soldering iron in sight.
What you have to do first is create a save file in Super Mario Bros' first slot, which you've probably already done just by playing it.
Then connect your NES Classic Mini to your computer using a micro USB cable and boot it up in what's known as "FEL" mode, by hoding down the console's reset button while pushing the power button.
You'll also need to run a "sunxi-FEL" interface on your computer, which you can access using USBBoot software (there's a great free version ).
All you'll need to then is supply your own ROM files for the games you want to play (how you do that is totally up to you, we won't judge), and to get yourself an expanded NES Mini library.
Don't forget to add your own custom JPGs to serve as the box art on the NES user interface to keep things looking pretty too.
