GOOD VIBRATIONS

The gaming world’s first sex toy is now 15 years old and its rudeness has never been matched

An old PlayStation 2 accessory which send vibrations into its owners' nether regions has been giving gamers a buzz since 2002

Although you may have experimented with game-related vibrations in your youth, gaming's first sex toy is just entering adolescence.

Forget the N64 Rumble Pak or even the original PS One controller, because there was one peripheral that took vibration feedback to a whole other level.

The Trance Vibrator was an unique USB-powered gaming peripheral for the PS2 that came packaged with special edition versions of Rez.

The gadget was designed to pulse in time with the trance music of the gameplay - hence the name - and was intended to be worn wherever you fancied on your person.

However, it also came with a protective pouch so you could actually sit on it while you played, buzzing your way to victory in more ways than one.

Although other gaming devices had rumble feedback before then, none had quite managed to be such a dedicated vibration accessory.

Although there was quite the buzz around the peripheral at the time, it's since been overshadowed by the greatness of the game itself.

Rez just had an HD revival on the PlayStation VR in the form of Rez Infinite, so we think it might be time to bring back the Trance Vibrator for some seriously immersive, full-body gameplay experiences.

"That was kind of a joke, but a very serious joke. No sexual meaning," said Testuya Mizuguchi in the interview. "We always listen to music by ear, and you can watch the visuals moving, the dynamics in Rez, so it's kind of a cross-sensation feeling."

In the very same interview, Mizuguchi claimed he prefers to keep his Trance Vibrator by his feet.
