A BRITISH teacher has been shot dead in Istanbul by a taxi driver who was allegedly obsessed with her.
Katie Erorbay was gunned down after leaving a school in the district of Orhantepe on Thursday afternoon.
Chilling CCTV footage obtained by Turkish newspaper showed Katie walking to a car with another woman moments before she was shot.
The suspect - identified in Turkish media as Mustafa G - appeared from around the corner and started trying to talk to the women as they got in the vehicle.
Katie - understood to be a mum-of-one - was seen briefly getting out of the car to confront the gunman before returning to the driver's seat.
After trying to force her to get out again, the suspect opened fire at close range.
Katie's terrified friend could be seen fleeing from the car and running to get help.
The suspect then turned the gun on himself - with footage showing the moment he dropped to the ground.
Paramedics desperately battled to save Katie's life but she died at the scene.
Mustafa G - said to be a taxi driver - reportedly survived the shooting.
The suspect was allegedly obsessed with teacher Katie.
And he often harassed her when she was leaving the school where she taught English, according to Turkish media reports.
It's understood Katie was married to a Turkish man and have a daughter.
Detectives have launched an investigation into the fatal shooting.
A Foreign Office spokesperson told The Sun: "We are supporting the family of a British national who was killed in Turkey and are in contact with the local authorities."
