Eco-warrior Greta Thunberg given ‘final warning to move during London protest before she was arrested for staying put’
COPS gave climate campaigner Greta Thunberg a “final warning” to move to a designated protest zone before they arrested her for staying put, a court has heard.
The Swedish activist, 21, had been part of a demonstration outside a hotel in central London last October as oil bosses attended a forum.
Luke Staton, prosecuting, said other protesters got access to the roof and “slowly abseiled down”.
A Section 14 condition was imposed — allowing the demo to continue, but on a set site to allow guests to access the InterContinental Hotel in Mayfair, it was said.
Thunberg was informed, the court heard, and warned more than once that failure to comply would result in arrest.
Mr Staton said: “She said she was staying where she was and so she was arrested.”

Four others were also held.
The prosecutor added: “The Crown’s case is all five of these defendants took part in a public assembly.
“They knew or ought to have known a Section 14 condition had been imposed and they all failed to comply.”
The five have pleaded not guilty to breaching the order.
