Teenager ‘had ear sliced off by gang of men as she tried to fight off their rape attempts’ in India
Attack was only thwarted by the girl's mother, who claims she was brutally beaten for intervening
A GROUP of men sliced the ear off a woman who fought off their rape attempts, the woman's mother has alleged.
The teenager was allegedly kidnapped and taken to a house where the horrifying assault began.
And as she fought off the sick attack, the men cut off her ear with a knife.
She was only saved when her mother ran to the rescue near New Delhi, India.
The anonymous victim's mother told The Hindu: "When she resisted, they cut her ears off with a sharp-edged knife and she screamed out of pain.
"When I reached the nearby house after hearing my daughter scream, the attackers beat me badly and ran away."
She added that the two had been threatened since the alleged attack on Thursday.
A police spokesman said: "We have registered a case on the basis of the victim’s complaint.
"No arrest has been made as yet but we are investigating the matter and will soon arrest the culprits."
India has seen a string of alleged sex offences against women.
Last month an American woman was allegedly gang-raped in a five-star New Delhi hotel by one of her tour guides.
While an Indian politician caused outraged this month when he blamed sexual assault victims for “dressing like Westerners”.
Home Minister in the state of Karnataka Dr G. Parameshwara said: "A large number of youngsters gathered – youngsters who are almost like Westerners.
“They try to copy Westerners not only in mindset, but even the dressing, so some disturbance, some girls are harassed, these kind of things do happen.”
