Shopper’s outrage at M&S for still flogging cut price ‘offensive’ ISIS toiletries – despite promising to rename range

Bosses initially refused to scrap the name - saying it had been going for 25 years - but it was confirmed last month it would be called Aqua

MARKS & Spencer has been slammed for desperately continuing to sell “thoughtless” ISIS toiletries – despite promising to scrap the range.

Bosses said they would dump the own-brand fragrances last month after angry customers compared it to the monster terror group of the same name.

But Sun Online can reveal M&S is STILL flogging the “offensive” range – this time at reduced prices in a bid to lure in reluctant buyers.

Russell Bradnam, 34, spotted an ISIS bag at his local M&S in Newmarket, Suffolk, on Saturday.

He said: “They had a load of men’s stuff reduced so I got a few bits and bobs when I noticed the ISIS bag."

Russell  added: “It was reduced from £18 to £4, which is a good saving but really it’s a completely thoughtless thing to be selling.

“We’ve all seen and heard of the sick videos and pictures of what ISIS get up to and it’s unreal. You just want an army to go over there and get rid of them all, so spotting the bag just made me angry.

“This ISIS terror thing has been going around for a couple of years now so M&S has had plenty of time to get their heads together and get it sorted.

“They’re a multimillion pound company but they obviously haven’t got much intelligence.”

M&S said their brand was inspired 25 years ago by the Egyptian goddess Isis, who was worshipped as the perfect mum and wife.

But death cult Islamic State has since hijacked the acronym – and made it famous for vile murders, beheadings and atrocities.

Upset shoppers revealed last month they had been complaining for two years to get M&S to remove the range.

The company finally caved in and said it would re-brand ISIS goods as ‘Aqua’.

Leisure centre worker Mr Bradnam said: “The bag had been reduced three times.

“Nobody wants it but they’re still hammering down to the price to get rid of it. I thought they were meant to have cleared the shelves of them.”

Twitter users previously poked fun at M&S’s ISIS range, with one joking: “These are not just Jihadi toiletries, these are M&S Jihadi toiletries.”

M&S, founded in 1884, has more than 850 branches across the UK.

An M&S spokesperson said: “We carried out a wide review of our fragrances to ensure we are giving customers greater clarity around our brands.

"As a result, all of our existing perfumes have moved to the new M&S Fragrance brand and we have taken this opportunity to rebrand Autograph ISIS as Aqua.

"We are no longer producing perfume under the name Autograph ISIS but will continue to sell through the product as we would with any other discontinued item."
