Staggering population totals now projected are a far greater upheaval than Britain can possibly handle
Migrant shock
WHAT mandate do politicians think they have to let our population soar to the staggering totals now projected?
Voters never agreed to it. Not at the Brexit referendum, nor the 2019 election. We were told we would “take back control”.
Never did we imagine the Government would refuse to properly exercise it.
Or that net annual migration, which once caused outrage at a “mere” 329,000, would be 672,000 by 2023.
The ONS reckons our population will surpass 73million by 2036, up 6.7million from 67million now, almost entirely due to migration.
No one seriously objects to bringing in skilled scientists, doctors, nurses, engineers and so on.

But this is a far greater and more rapid upheaval than Britain can possibly handle.
Will the Tories succeed in slashing this rise to a manageable level? We doubt it. Would Labour? Fat chance.
Is anyone, then, planning the immense building programme needed to cope? Again, no.
Not only is the target of 300,000 homes a year not being met, it was based on far lower migration forecasts. Plus there is a massive backlog.

And that’s just housing. Where are the new hospitals, doctors, dentists, schools, reservoirs or nuclear plants for a ten per cent population rise?
Equally, how will our Government instill in all those newcomers a love for Britain and our values — a crucial goal so shamefully neglected in the past?
This ought to consume every waking moment of this Government and the next.
Except politicians in ivory towers just abandon us all to cope, as services are overwhelmed, wages suppressed and property prices and rents soar.
Can they still not grasp the public’s rage?
Tax madness
IMAGINE examining the UK economy and deciding taxes are too low.
That the 70-year high should be higher . . . perhaps via punitive new levies on homes, savings and carbon emissions.
And imagine thinking our OAPs are too rich to merit a pension “triple-lock”.
This cobblers comes from economic “experts” at the International Monetary Fund.
These Brexit-hating clowns forever talk down our economy, only for it to shrug off their dismal forecasts.
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt must ignore them and cut taxes in March.
IMF? LOL.
Probe CPS
VALDO Calocane may genuinely be a paranoid schizophrenic, as four shrinks say.
And maybe the downgrading of his murder charges to manslaughter with diminished responsibility was right.
But his victims’ families are unconvinced. And they say the decision was sprung on them by the CPS anyway.

Their fears cannot be left to linger. So the Attorney General is right to urgently review how the CPS handled this case.
Those families deserve the truth.
