Dying D-Day veteran desperate to be reunited with treasured military medals lost during Christmas walk

Relatives fear 91-year-old war hero Nick Rumble has just days to live and urge anybody who found the awards to return them

A DYING D-Day hero aged 91 is begging to be reunited with his precious medals — which loved ones fear he dropped during a Christmas walk.

Nick Rumble is battling for life in hospital after later falling ill.

Relatives fear he has only days to live and yesterday begged anyone who found the five medals, which include France’s Legion d’honneur, to give them back.

Partner Kathleen McDonald said she was at his bedside when he exclaimed: “My medals.”

She last saw him with them as he went for a stroll.

Kathleen said: “He must have dropped them.

Nick, of Hull, was a Merchant Navy ship gunner in World War Two.
