Ex-London postman who joined ISIS charged with war crimes after being spotted in Syria execution video

A FORMER postman who travelled to Syria and joined ISIS has been charged with involvement in a massacre.
Harry Sarfo grew up in London but moved back to Germany where he was born before travelling to the Middle East to link up with the terror group in 2015.
Sarfo was arrested after returning to Germany, telling cops he had fled the group after becoming disillusioned.
He was convicted last year by a Hamburg court of membership in a terrorist organisation and breaching weapons export laws.
But he was sentenced to just three years behind bars after drawing praise from the judge for his "wholehearted" confession.
Footage publicised around the time of the trial showed Sarfo in an ISIS propaganda video which included the killing of prisoners in the ancient ruins of Palmyra.
The former Wickes employee told cops he had taken no part in the massacre, describing the incident as his worst memory from his time in Syria.
And he claimed the mass execution was one of the things which spurred him to leave.

But new footage obtained by the has now emerged appearing to showing Sarfo taking an active role in the killings, which saw six people executed in a public square in July 2015.
And prosecutors say they have now obtained a new warrant against the 28-year-old on suspicion of murder and committing war crimes.
Prosecutors said he led one of the captives to the execution site and prevented others from fleeing.
New footage also appears to show him pulling out a pistol before firing it in the direction of the victims after they are shot by a firing squad.
It is unclear if they are dead or if he hits them at all.
Born to Ghanaian parents in the northern German city of Bremen, Sarfo converted to Islam after moving to London.
He became radicalised while in prison in Germany after taking part in a robbery and claims to have travelled to Syria in April 2015 to join ISIS.
He fled the group several weeks later and was arrested in July 2015 upon his return to Germany.
Sarfo claimed he trained in ISIS’ special forces but ran away before taking part in any operations.
