Young driver, 21, killed in horror crash after car loses control & smashes into bus stop

Police are now appealing for any witness after the car came off the road

A YOUNG driver has been killed after his car hit a bus stop in a horror crash in Fife.

The 21-year-old was driving along Foxton Drive in Glenrothes last night when he lost control of the car.

Emergency services raced to the scene at around 7.40pm after the yellow Skoda Fabia collided with an empty bus stop.

Tragically, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 19-year-old male passenger was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment.

He was subsequently released.

The road was closed for several hours while enquiries into the crash began.

Police are now appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

And they are particularly keen to talk to anyone who may have been driving in the area around the time of the incident and saw the car.

Officers are also encouraging anyone who may have dash-cam footage to get in touch.

Anyone with any information can contact the police on 101 and quote incident number 3094 of Tuesday January 16 2024.

Sergeant Jill Kirkpatrick from Road Policing said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the man who died and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

“We are looking to speak to any motorists who were on the road around the time of the incident on Tuesday evening, who may have seen a yellow Skoda Fabia, or anything else which could be of significance.

“We would also urge anyone with dash-cam footage to please get in touch with Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3094 of Tuesday, 16 January, 2024.”
