Donald Trump could wipe out Kim Jong Un’s nuke plants with military strikes this year to avoid full-scale war, intelligence experts warn

THE United States could launch targeted military strikes against North Korea this year, according to a new intelligence report.

Following sabre-rattling on the part of Kim Jong-un the US Defence Department has been investigating plans to put the tubby tyrant back in his place.

The rotund despot used his New Year's address to announce that his communist nation may soon have the capability to strike the US mainland.

Now a Texas based intelligence firm has revealed the US could launch targeted strikes against the country in a bid to avoid all out war.

Strategic Forecasting Inc., known as Stratfor, published a report, outlining a strategy for potential US military intervention in the Asian dictatorship.

The report discusses a "minimalist strike specifically focused on dismantling the North's nuclear weapons program."

Stratfor's research states: "By not launching strikes on other North Korean targets, Washington leaves the door open, if only slightly, for de-escalation if Pyongyang can be convinced that the strike is not part of a regime change operation.

The report adds: "To be sure of destroying Pyongyang's nuclear capability, there are three categories of targets that the United States would have to hit: nuclear production infrastructure, the nuclear devices and warheads themselves, and any associated delivery vehicles.

"These facilities form the heart of North Korean nuclear production infrastructure.

"If they were destroyed or disabled, the North Korean nuclear production network would be crippled, set back years at least."

However The Donald has been dismissive of the cheese chomping dictator's claims taking to Twitter saying: "North Korea just stated that it is in the final stages of developing a nuclear weapons capable of reaching parts of the US. it won't happen!"

The news comes amidst revelations by The Sun that Kim Jong-un was looking to increase other weapons within his population.
