Police officer, 34, appears in court accused of sexually assaulting girl, 6, while he was on duty

A POLICE officer has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl while he was on duty.
PC Dean Dempster, from Greater Manchester Police, allegedly groped the child in Oldham on December 29.
The 34-year-old appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today charged with assaulting the girl by sexual touching.
Dempster is also accused of misconduct in a public office as he was on duty at the time.
No plea was entered but a provisional trial date was set for June 19.
The cop was remanded into custody ahead of a further hearing on February 23.

Dempster joined the force in 2021 after serving as a special constable and ambulance service paramedic.
He was posted to GMP's Oldham district at the time of the alleged offence.
GMP said in a statement: "The officer has been suspended from duty and misconduct proceedings will resume upon the conclusion of criminal proceedings."
