A SCHOOL bus lost control on "pure ice" and crashed into numerous cars after spinning 360 degrees in a terrifying crash this morning.
Emergency services raced to Chapel Road, in Kirkcaldy, at around 8.30am today.
Officers scrambled to the scene in Fife after receiving reports of a crash involving a double-decker bus.
The bus had been driving along the road when it came to the top of the hill.
But freezing conditions overnight had turned the water on the road to ice and the large Stagecoach bus lost control.
As it began to go down the hill the back end of the bus skidded and ended up on the pavement and crashed into numerous cars.
The driver then mounted the pavement on the other side of the road and tried to go towards the grass in an effort to stop the vehicle.
But it wasn't enough to stop the heavy bus and the back end continued to roll on the city road.
It then caused the bus to do a full 360-degree swing, crashing into other vehicles on the road as it went.
The bus eventually came to a stop at the bottom of the hill.
