Man, 29, to stand trial charged with attempted murder of pregnant mum who was ‘stabbed on the school run’
A MAN is due to stand trial accused of stabbing a pregnant mum on the school run.
Andreea Pintilli, 29, was knifed in the back at least five times in Aberfan, Wales, on December 5.
Daniel Mihai Popescu, 29, appeared at Merthyr Crown Court today charged with attempted murder and witness intimidation.
He also faces a summary only offence of stalking Andreea between October 25 and December 6.
No pleas were entered but a provisional trial date was set for June 3.
Popescu was remanded into custody to next appear at the same court on April 12.

Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke, The Recorder of Cardiff, said: "I have listed this case for trial on June 3 of this year.
"For now that concludes proceedings. You are remanded in custody."
Andreea was rushed to hospital after the horror but has since been discharged.
Armed police swooped on a home in Aberfan several hours after the attack and arrested Popescu.

One witness said she heard "screams" so ran outside to help Andreea as she lay on the street.
Chief Inspector Rob Miles said at the time: "I appreciate that there will be a real sense of shock within the local community with the attack having happened in broad daylight.
"I would like to reassure the public that we believe this to be a targeted attack."
