Woman dies on Glasgow TUI flight after taking ill on trip back from Tenerife
A PASSENGER has reportedly died on a Scots flight after taking ill on board.
The TUI flight had taken off from Tenerife bound for Glasgow at around 5.30pm on Friday when an alarm was raised after female passenger had suffered a cardiac arrest shortly after take-off.
An hour into the flight the flight crew issued an emergency Squawk 7700.
Flight BY1573 was diverted to the island of Madeira to make an emergency landing in Santa Cruz, reports Portuguese newspaper ,
The flight headed to Funchal Airport where the aircraft landed at 6:40pm.
Despite the efforts of medical staff on the ground, it is reported by local media that they were unable to revive the woman.
The flight plan had it back on route to Glasgow at 8:55 pm last night.
TUI has been approached for comment.
