Teen pals accused of murdering schoolgirl Brianna Ghey ‘were in it together’

THE teenage friends accused of murdering schoolgirl Brianna Grey were in it together, a court heard.

The pair, known as Girl X and Boy Y, were said to have demonstrated their intimacy through their messages.

Prosecutor Deanna Heer, KC, said: “They demonstrate the intimacy of their relationship.

“They shared their darkest thoughts.”

They were 15 when they allegedly knifed Brianna 28 times in a park in Warrington, Cheshire.

Ms Heer added: “You may find it difficult to fathom how two children could behave in the way they did.

“There may be a temptation to try to find an explanation for what they did.

“They are children, after all.

“We may never know what brought them to this point in their lives but that does not make them any less guilty.

“We do not have to prove which one wielded the knife, whether it was one or both of them.

“There can be no doubt that they both played a part in the murder.

“They were in it together.”

The trial at Manchester crown court continues.
