HOLLYWOOD could be taking on the Brexit story as a film studio is in talks about making a movie about Nigel Farage's campaign to remove Britain from the EU.

The idea for the film is based on his diary charting the successful campaign and there are plans to met with Farage and Banks when they visit the US for President-Elect Donald Trump's inauguration in January.

The diary, titled Bad Boys of Brexit, has been something of a hit in bookshops, and has interested producers across the pond.

Andy Wigmore, spokesman for Banks, : "We have had some very serious Hollywood people in touch with us who are going to buy the rights to the book. They want to buy the option on it.”

Mr Wigmore added that while the producers "have done a bit of research... effectively that book is like a screenplay so half the work has been done for them”.

He said any money made from the "comedy" film would go to charity.

The books details how the campaign was run and a memorable part notes how Farage was persuaded to take part in the Battle of the Thames, when pro-Leave fishing boats were challenged.

The relationship between US President-Elect Trump and Farage has been much discussed, with Farage recently attempting to show off his ambassadorial credentials at a posh bash in November to celebrate his role in Brexit — even posing with a tray of Ferrero Rocher.

He roared with laughter as he was given the chocs, which the firm’s infamous telly adverts claimed were enjoyed at ambassadors’ receptions.

He gave a speech where he told the gathering: "We've got a problem. In America the revolution is total. Not only have the people spoken and won, but the old administration, Obama and all those ghastly people, are out and the Trump people are in.

"In this country, the people have spoken, but the same players have just been shuffled around the chess board and we are still being run by the career professional political class."

Now all that remains is to wonder who would take on the role of Farage?
