Israeli counter terror chiefs warn against travelling to India for New Years Eve amid fears of attacks on Westerners
Tourists advised to stay away from marketplaces and festivals in major cities
ISRAELI counter terror chiefs have warned against travelling to India over fears of possible attacks on Western tourists.
The Israel counter-terrorism bureau has advised tourists visiting major cities such as Delhi and Mumbai to avoid visiting marketplaces, festivals or crowded shopping centres.
The bureau said: ""We ask to focus on events in the coming days related to the Christian New Year's holiday, placing particular emphasis on beach parties and clubs, where there are larger concentrations of tourists.
"Israeli tourists traveling in India are asked to stay alert and to pay attention to local media reports and security agencies. Furthermore, families with relatives in India."
Pakistani terrorists killed 166 people, among them five Israelis, in a spate of attacks across Mumbia in 2008,
Local and national security services in India were heavily criticised for their slow response.
