The couple have spent the festive period camped near the city’s Liberty Stadium.

They told how they have not left their patch unattended for fear of their belongings going missing.

Sub-zero temperatures at the beginning of December meant the zip on their tent froze solid and broke when the couple attempted to use it, forcing them to use insulation tape in an attempt to seal it up,

And now it has deteriorated to such an extent, they are appealing for help in getting a new one, while they continue to pursue avenues to get themselves a proper home.

Kirsty, 43, said:" We have had no joy with housing, although we have been speaking with the council's housing department.

"It's not much to ask for, housing, and just to be like anyone else. I have got trench foot from living like this, and I have other health conditions such as asthma and heart problems.

"We know how the system works, but we haven't been able to leave our tent, in case anything happens to it.

"But the tent is in such a condition now that we need a new one. We'd be massively grateful if anyone was able to help out".

Kirsty's medical condition means she has to take up to twenty tablets a day, while husband Nigel has sciatica.

She says she hasn't been able to shower for eight months, and cleans herself with baby wipes.

The mum-of-four also has step-children, and a grandchild, and hopes to rebuild her relationship with her family, once she secures housing.

"We just had to make the best we could over Christmas," she added.

She also made an appeal for people to support Swansea's homeless charity, The Wallich.
