GEORGE Michael's cause of death remains unclear after his postmortem came back "inconclusive".
Further tests into the tragic star's sudden death will be needed following yesterday's investigations.
A statement said: "A Post Mortem examination was carried out yesterday as part of the investigation into the death of George Michael.
"The cause of death is inconclusive and further tests will now be carried out. The results of these tests are unlikely to be known for several weeks.
"Thames Valley Police will prepare a file for the Oxfordshire Coroner.
"Mr Michael’s death is still being treated as unexplained but not suspicious."
George – whose real name is Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou – was discovered in bed at his home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, by his partner Fadi Fawaz on Christmas Day.
Devastated Fadi later tweeted: “It's a xmas i will never forget finding your partner dead peacefully in bed first thing in the morning.. I will never stop missing you xx.”
Tributes have been flooding in from around the world, and a big concert held in George’s name is being planned by his celebrity friends.

It comes as fans across the globe have been left stunned by the Careless Whisper singer's sudden death, which came amid reports he was planning to start a family with partner Fadi in just a few months.
Fadi, 43, also shared the late singer’s unpublished song This Kind of Love with grieving fans as part of a tribute to George — leading many to call for the song to be officially released.
In a statement, , saying: "It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.
"The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time.
"There will be no further comment at this stage."
Friends of the family say hairdresser Melanie, 55, is set to receive up to £50million following the pop star’s death on Christmas Day.
