Uber driver rescues 16-year-old girl from sex traffickers after being asked to drive teenager to illicit hotel meeting by the girl’s female ‘pimps’
Heroic Keith Avila called cops after overhearing two female pimps telling the teen how to greet her customer
A HEROIC Uber driver saved a 16-year-old from child sex traffickers after dropping the vulnerable teen off with her two female pimps.
Father-of-one Keith Avila immediately phoned the police when the unnamed teen left his cab with two women in Elk Grove in Sacramento, California.
Before dropping them off at a Holiday Inn Express, the driver became concerned after hearing the pimps talking to the youngster – who was dressed suggestively.
He heard the women, Destiny Pettway, 25, and Maria Westly, 31, telling the girl how to act when she met her customer.
Speaking with KCRA, Keith said: “She had a really short skirt.
“So, you could see all her legs, and it struck me as odd because she was so young and she was dressing like that.
“She starts coaching and saying ‘OK when we get there the first thing you’re gonna do is give the guy a hug and you’re gonna ask if he has any weapons’.”
Despite Keith's quick-thinking, cops were reportedly unable to prevent the vulnerable teen from having sex with a 20-year-old customer named as Disney Vang.
Police arrested Vang, Pettway and Westly and the young girl has been placed in protective custody.
Vang has been released on bail after being charged with having sex with a minor.
Pettway and Westly are still in custody after failing to post their £407,000 bail after being charged with pimping and pandering.
Officer Chris Trim, from Elk Grove police, praised the brave taxi driver.
He said: “He could’ve said nothing. Went on his way, collected his fare.
“And then that 16-year-old victim could’ve been victimised again by who knows how many different people over the next couple of days, weeks, months.”
Last month two women told how their Uber driver became violent midway through their trip before dumping them in the middle of the night by a reservoir.
