Human roadblock dubbed ‘Silent Man’ jailed again for stopping traffic — and refusing to explain why
A HUMAN roadblock dubbed “Silent Man” has been jailed again for stopping traffic — and refusing to explain why.
David Hampson, 53, stands silently in front of cars on a busy road until cops nick him.
He got three and a half years in 2021 but committed the same offence after his early release — and then did it again outside Swansea police station as soon as he was bailed.
Hampson refuses to explain himself to police, judges, or psychiatrists.
He has been jailed ten times for his mute protests over the years in the centre of Swansea.
The city’s magistrates court heard that on October 17, police took him aside for stopping traffic but he “did not engage with the officers”.

He went to court the next day but still refused to talk.
He was bailed ahead of trial, but left the courthouse and went back to standing in the road.
