Gang of killers ‘linked to ISIS shoots police officer in Moscow’

A RUSSIAN cop has been killed in Moscow by a gang of men who may have links to terror group ISIS, it has been reported.
The shooting reportedly took place at an an abandoned fire station. Another officer is reported to be injured after the attackers opened fire after the cops stopped the men and asked to see their documents.
A police spokesman said: "A group of five to seven unknown men who are, according to preliminary data natives of the North Caucasus, attacked the police.
"One officer was fatally injured. Criminals have seized two assault rifles and a pistol with full ammo."
A source told Russian news agency TASS that three suspects were arrested.
"Three suspects were detained. Officers seized one rifle and one pistol," said the source.
Meanwhile, Russian media has reported an ISIS terrorist cell planning attacks on Moscow has been smashed in Dagestan, southern Russia,
"The FSB with the Russian Interior Ministry have thwarted the activities of an undercover group of Islamic State supporters in [the southern Republic of] Dagestan. [The group] was planning terrorist attacks in the Moscow area," the Federal Security Bureau said in a statement.
Seven arrests have been made. According to the FSB, the militants were planning attacks based on “direct instructions” from an ISIS commander in Syria.
Russia fought two brutal separatist wars over the past two decades in Chechnya but the region has been largely pacified under Moscow ally Ramzan Kadyrov’s iron-fisted rule.
A dwindling group of Islamist insurgents are still fighting the authorities in Chechnya and across the volatile North Caucasus, and sporadically launch eye-catching attacks.

A week before Christmas the terror thugs attacked a police officer in Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic, then engaged in a shootout after being caught in a security lockdown on the city.
The Russian North Caucasus is one of the major sources of foreign jihadists fighting in Syria and Iraq.
