RESIDENTS have hit out at their town’s Christmas decorations which include reindeer sculptures “showing their rear ends” to passers-by.

The festive feature has gone up at a war memorial in Dover, Kent, which was put up to “honour all” from the town who have died during conflicts.

One local considers the position of the sculptures to be inconsiderate.

Nick Doel told : “I don’t like their positioning. I would have thought the heads should have been facing the public, not the rear ends.

“It’s a little bit of an insult, I think. God knows why they put them like that.”

He said the reindeer had been put up in that position last week.

Nick said that he didn’t mind them being on the memorial because it would only be for the Christmas period.

Another man, Paul, who only wanted to give his first name, said: “They’re beautiful reindeer but they’re facing the wrong way.

“I think it’s a bit of an insult to the people of Dover.

“It’s showing the back ends of reindeer. Why didn’t they have it so their heads are at the front so they can see it and they’re looking at the people of Dover?

“It’s an ideal spot for them but they’ve turned them the wrong way round. Whoever made that decision didn’t think about that.”

Not everyone was particularly concerned with the positioning of the reindeer though.

Passer-by Anna Williams said: “It doesn’t bother me. It does make it look more Christmassy - better than what we normally have.”

While another local, Alice Ferry, said about the position of the sculptures: “That hadn’t crossed my mind. I think they’re pretty.”

When asked what she thought to them being placed on the war memorial, she added: “I don’t know where else you could put them because they’re huge. So maybe the Market Square might have been better.”

The Sun Online has contacted Dover Town Council for comment.

They're not the only Christmas decorations that have given locals up and down the country cause for concern.

Walsall Council have been slammed for a sorry-looking sleigh dumped next to a fake tree in a bleak shopping centre.

Meanwhile, a town's "shocking" Christmas tree was branded as the UK's "worst" by furious locals - who say they could get a better one for £55 on the high street.

Elsewhere, locals were saying in early October their Christmas had already been ruined thanks to a decision by the council.
