Blood of teen Brianna Ghey was found on a hunting knife at a murder accused’s home, court told
The accused told police that the killing 'goes against everything I believe'
THE blood of teen Brianna Ghey was found on a hunting knife at a murder accused’s home, a court heard yesterday.
Forensic scientist Jane Roughley said her tissue was also present near the hilt, found in Boy Y’s bedroom after his arrest.
She said: “One explanation is he had used the knife and then tried to clean it.”
Blood was also on his trainers and ski jacket, jurors were told.
Ms Roughley said no blood from Brianna was on items recovered from co-accused, Girl X.
Boy Y denies taking the knife to a February meeting with Brianna, 16 — stabbed 28 times in a Warrington park.
He told police that the killing “goes against everything I believe”.
The two teens blame each other for the fatal blows and deny murder.
Trial continues at Manchester crown court.
Brianna Ghey’s body was tragically found at Linear Park in Culcheth on February 11.
Brianna Ghey, 16, was from the Birchwood area of Warrington.
At the time, the 16-year-old’s family described her as ”a much loved daughter, granddaughter, and baby sister”.
In a statement, her loved ones added: ”She was a larger than life character who would leave a lasting impression on all that met her.
“Brianna was beautiful, witty and hilarious. Brianna was strong, fearless and one of a kind.”
