‘That’s cold’ cry Brits as ‘fabulous’ Christmas market suddenly AXED with shoppers scrambling to find out why
HUNDREDS of Brits have been left scrambling for answers after a popular Christmas market was suddenly cancelled just days before it was set to open.
Locals in the Suffolk town of Felixstowe, where the Beach Street Christmas Market was due to be held on December 7, are trying to get to the bottom of the last-minute axing.
Event organiser Karen Stewart said she came to "the difficult decision" to cancel the markets.
"We didn't have as many people with availability to take part in this market as we had anticipated, or to make the great atmosphere and footfall we've had at previous markets," she told the .
Locals took to social media to make their own speculations on the cancellation.
One resident asked: "What's going on with Beach Street? Places closing and now this?"
Another added: "That's cold."
A third comment read: "What a shame."
Other locals acknowledged the timing of the market could be to blame for its scrapping.
"Thursday was always a strange day to hold this and a weekend would have been better," a comment read.

Some Felixstowe residents theorised the cold weather played a part in the closure, suggesting the markets would be better suited to take place in July.
One comment read: "Too cold. A place for summer."
However, locals can still enjoy the Suffolk Farmers Market at Trinity Park, which is set to take place on Saturday December 9.
The eleventh-hour cancellation of the Beach Street Christmas Markets comes after other festive markets and local restaurants recently closed down.
Earlier this week, the Viet Street Food Company and the View Smokehouse, also located in Felixstowe, announced they were shutting their doors for good.
Lincoln Christmas Market, the oldest Christmas marked in the UK, was axed by the City of Lincoln Council in February over safety concerns regarding overcrowding.
Both local residents and business owners in the east Midlands town were shocked by the news.
"[It] was the highlight of the Christmas lead-up for me. Lots of happy memories I hope it will be brought back in the future," a resident told Lincolnshire Live.
