Heathrow, City and Luton Airport departures face long delays due to fog and a technical issue with Air Traffic Control
DEPARTURES at Luton, City and Heathrow Airports all face delays this morning due to fog.
Passengers travelling out of London's busiest airports are being held up by bad weather, as Air Traffic Control continues to work on an ongoing technical fault.
Flights both in and out of London City and Heathrow airports face delays as the UK continues to be shrouded in mist.
Heathrow's official Twitter account read: "Foggy weather may affect scheduled flights today. Please kindly check your flight status with your airline."
City airport's Twitter account added: "Due to earlier foggy weather conditions flights may be subject to delays, passengers are advised to check with airline for flight info."

A spokesperson for Heathrow Airport said the fog is beginning to lift and hopes flights later in the day won't be affected.
Early morning flights have been affected by the fog, but this should not have a widespread effect on later flights.
Heathrow said they will be monitoring the situation throughout the day.
Luton Airport earlier said departures were affected by a technical issue with Air Traffic Control.
NATS, UK air traffic controllers, have since confirmed the only problem holding up flights this morning is the weather.
A spokesperson said: "Fog across the London area is causing a second day of widespread delay to air traffic.
"NATS has been experiencing an ongoing problem with our voice communications system which has affected a small number of workstations at our Swanwick centre but this has not added significantly to the weather delays.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
Arrivals into the London airport are unaffected, according to a statement on their website.
An update said: "Air traffic control experiencing weather related issues which are affecting departures."
Many flights across the UK have been delayed and cancelled due to fog in recent weeks.
London City airport has repeatedly cancelled flights due to the soupy conditions, while severe weather warnings have been issued with the cold snap set to last into the New Year.
Earlier in December the same airport had an average delay time of 67 minutes after 43 flights were cancelled.
The Met Office then issued a severe weather warning for fog and warned it would persist – with some patches restricting visibility to under 330ft.
