German manager tells staff they can take as much holiday as they like with no pay deductions because he trusts them to be responsible
Software chief Ullrich Kastner trusts his workers to do the right thing
A TRUSTING boss has gone where no boss has gone before - by allowing employees to take off as much paid holiday as they want.
Ullrich Kastner, the maverick founder of a German hotel broker company, said he is rewarding his 37 staff by letting them stay off work whenever they want.
The extraordinary move takes effect now for those working for software project start-up, 'Myhotelshop.de', based in the eastern German city of Leipzig.
To test it out, it is expected to run for a year.
Mr Kastner said the policy was tried out on a small group and it worked - with fewer people off sick.
The 41-year-old said: “The team has proven that it can take over responsibility.
“That is the point and what it is about to me.
“My employees are not supposed to work according to the regulations, but to work towards a goal.”
