Suspect, 35, detained in connection with death of Thomas Roberts in Glasgow street on Christmas Day

Cops said a man had been arrested and a report sent to the procurator fiscal after the 43-year-old dad died in alleged attack

A MAN aged 35 has been arrested in connection with the death of Thomas Roberts in a Glasgow street in the early hours of Christmas Day.

Cops said this morning the suspect had been detained after Thomas, 43, lost his fight for life following an alleged assault in the back court of a flat at Ashgill Road, in the city's Milton.

Thomas was described as a "lovely quiet guy"

In a statement, Police Scotland said: "A 35-year man has been arrested and detained in police custody in connection with the death of Thomas Roberts of the Milton area of Glasgow.

"He is also being reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with an alleged assault on a 50-year-old man.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

We told yesterday how dad Thomas was seen by cops just four hours earlier when they were called to his home.

He was discovered at 4am on Christmas Day.

Police were yesterday seen combing the area for clues.

His grieving daughter Brooklyn paid tribute to him on Facebook, saying: "Worst news was waking up on Christmas morning to find my dad had been found dead outside.

A neighbour described Thomas as a "lovely, quiet guy".

Meanwhile a crowdfunding page set up by Thomas's cousin Elizabeth Cunningham to help fund his funeral costs had so far raised £675.
