Sir Philip Green cancels annual Barbados New Year bash after celeb pals abandon tycoon over BHS scandal
The shamed billionaire has swanned off to lavish Sandy Lane resort every year for the past 20 years
SHAMED Topshop tycoon Sir Philip Green cancelled his holiday after friends ditched him over the BHS pension scandal.
The billionaire bandit has spent every Christmas and New Year since 1996 at the lavish Sandy Lane resort in Caribbean isle Barbados.
He is usually joined by stars including Simon Cowell, Kate Moss, Rod Stewart and Rihanna.
But this year Sir Philip, 64, shocked staff by not taking up his three-week booking of an £18,000-a-night beachside villa.
His celeb mates have shunned him after he sold BHS for £1 — leaving a £571million black hole in its pensions fund.

He promised to “sort” the deficit six months ago — but as yet nothing has been done.
A source at the five-star resort said: “It’s the first time in 20 years that he will not be staying.
“His friends have all but abandoned him since BHS went bust.
“After all these years of lavish parties with the biggest names in the business, he would cut a pretty tragic figure sunbathing on his lonesome at Christmas.”
Last night, Sir Philip said he “just fancied a change” — and demanded to be left alone.
He said: “You guys have been on my back for months. Enough’s enough now, it’s Christmas.”
