Dozens of migrants rescued from French waters by RNLI crew and brought to Britain
AN RNLI crew rescued dozens of migrants from French waters — and brought them to Britain.
The lifeboat was called in by the authorities in France after the engine on the migrants’ boat failed.
It picked up 38 people who restarted their engine but refused to return to France.
Some migrants had been rescued by the French Navy.
Those picked up by the RNLI were taken to Dungeness, Kent, where they were met by ambulances.
One could be seen being carried off on a stretcher.

Dover MP Natalie Elphicke said it showed the need for a new agreement for France to stop small boats leaving in the first place.
She added: “I’m very concerned the French authorities are asking the RNLI to operate just off the French coast — and then getting them to take migrants to England for medical assistance.
"This makes no sense when French hospitals are so much closer.”
The Home Office said there had been “an emergency response to a number of people in distress in the Channel inside French waters”.
