Boxing Day sales patrolled by armed undercover cops to protect bargain hunters from Berlin-style ISIS massacre in London
UNDERCOVER cops are patrolling shopping areas across London today as Scotland Yard ramps up security following the Berlin terror attack.
Surveillance of Winter Wonderland is also being increased and additional armed police will be sent to patrol public transport over the New Year.
They told the paper: "Security will be tightened and there will be more visibility (of uniformed police) but not in a dramatic way that would not reassure people.
"Everyone wants people to go out and do things."
It comes as a response to the ISIS Berlin truck attack last week, in which terrorist Anis Amri drove a lorry into Christmas market shoppers, killing 12.
The additional protection for shoppers comes as bargain hunters across the UK are expected flood the streets spending almost £4 billion and saving millions of pounds on massively discounted items.
It is also part of a wider tightening of security across New Year's Eve festivities.
Cops are considering installing concrete barriers to prevent attacks when New Year's Eve crowds gather in Trafalgar Square.
Just a week ago it was claimed SAS anti-terror troops were being sent to patrol British streets in a bid to thwart terror attacks.
The elite troops have been deployed amid fears over ISIS attacks and have been given a ‘shoot to kill’ order if they believe civilians are at risk.
They will operate undercover in major British cities including London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds.
Intelligence sources believe British-born members of ISIS returning from Iraq and Syria are determined to carry out assaults.
